All about eMatrix™
How does eMatrix differ from other forms of fractional resurfacing?
Because the eMatrix uses a form of radio frequency called Sublative Rejuvenation™, it can penetrate through the upper layers of the skin to get to the deeper layers where we want the energy to be delivered. This transfer of energy below the surface of the skin leaves the top layer of the skin minimally affected. With this technology, the eMatrix™ can safely and effectively treat ALL skin types. Downtime is minimal compared to treatment with other forms of fractional resurfacing. There are no open wounds and only a mild, pink sun-burn like appearance for about one day.
What is Sublative Rejuvenation with eMatrix and how does it work?
The challenge with most lasers and light devices has been how to deliver enough energy below the surface of the skin to induce collagen remodeling without affecting or damaging the top epidermal layer of the skin. When the top layer of the skin is removed to get to the lower layers of the skin, the top layer of the skin must completely regenerate leaving the patient with long down times. When laser or light energy is delivered BELOW the surface of the skin, the visible surface of the skin is unaffected, or less affected, and the collagen remodeling we are after becomes a possibility. This is how the eMatrix works.
What benefits can I expect from eMatrix?
eMatrix addresses mild to moderate wrinkles, skin texture, and superficial discoloration. Most people notice a more smooth and youthful appearance after treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
You will get the most benefit from three treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Treatment usually takes about 20 minutes and you'll be on your way. Each individual treatment can include one or more passes across the affected area. The single pass treatment is $399 and can require up to three treatments spaced about two weeks apart. The eMatrixMakeover includes multiple passes in problem areas at one visit for optimal outcomes and costs $599.
When do I notice improvements in my skin?
Improvements are noted by most patients after the first treatment. When energy is delivered to the deeper layers of the skin, the changes to the collagen continue up to 1 year. Most people will continue to notice improvements over this time period. After one year, we recommend one or more maintenance treatments to keep your skin looking young and youthful.
Is there pain?
Sublative Rejuvenation with eMatrix is much less painful that other forms of fractional resurfacing. While eMatrix is not 100 percent painless, it is more of a warm, snapping feeling to your skin than a painful feeling. You will look like you have a sunburn for about 24 hours after your treatment. We can apply a topic numbing cream to your face prior to treatment if you prefer, but many people do not use it.
What are the potential side effects?
Because the eMatrix delivers energy below the skin, ALL skin types can be treated with little to no downtime. You can return to your life immediately after treatment. Side effects are minimal. In our experience at Alpine Dermatology, no long-term side effects have been noted.
Can anyone do eMatrix?
Because sublative Rejuvenation is the only fractional treatment that can be used safely on all skin types, anyone can do it. If you have an active infection on your face, you will need to wait unitil it is cleared to receive treatment.
